Choptank is a Third Party Logistics (3PL) provider, meaning we connect customers who have products to move with appropriate carriers and equipment, to provide the most efficient and cost-effective supply-chain solution. Our customers want to focus on crafting and selling their products, not looking for trucks to move it and hoping they get a fair price for the shipping. We take that worry off their plate and get them the best deals in the market. We offer solutions and give them results.


As a Government Sales Consultant with Choptank, you will be on the front lines of identifying, acquiring and growing profitable new customers in the government market. You'll be prospecting and developing leads on prospective accounts in the government market, and building relationships with exisiting government customers. (Prior federal goverment experience required. If you do NOT have this experience, please apply for our Inside Sales Representative position.)

  • Build your customer base from prospecting leads within the government space, without the hassle of being tied down by territories
  • Analyze customers’ shipping needs and upsell solutions to both new and existing government customers
  • Manage accounts and build strong customer relationships. Your customers are counting on you
  • Multitask and prioritize every day. A lot can happen from pick-up to delivery and you will be working through issues while staying upbeat. No two days are alike and that is part of what keeps your job so interesting


  • High School diploma required; business or communications degree is a plus
  • Desire to work in a dynamic sales environment with goals
  • Energetic personality and comfortable speaking to perfect strangers
  • Proven government sales ability
  • Must be able to acquire proper government security credentials
  • Ability to travel to government installations and trade shows, as needed

Preferred education and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Previous transportation or sales experience
  • Prior government sales knowledge and contacts, as pertains to logistics services
  • Knowledge of government systems and TMS’s
  • Knowledge of government requirements and payables systems
  • Experience with: DIBBS, FBO, TPI, SAM, ETA, GFA, LSCMS, DLA
